How to survive South Korea’s bad air

Air quality varies everyday

What causes Korea’s bad air?

The “fine dust” is the sand that is blown from the Mongolian and Chinese deserts during windy seasons and blown into the peninsula.
However, China can be blamed for 60% and South Korea for 40% of the problem especially when you consider the man-made pollution as well.

Why is it bad for you?

Pollution links to heart disease, some cancers and early deaths.
Fine particle pollution known as PM 2.5 is microscopic particles that enter the bloodstream when inhaled. These fine particles contain lead, arsenic, carcinogens and other pollutants. Children and the elderly are particularly susceptible.

What can you do to protect yourself?

Short-term solution wear your mask and stay indoors.
Long-term solution, government plans to implement security measures such at close coal plantations.

Cotton mask

A tip

Whenever you are sick or can feel a mucus buildup. Wear a mask especially on bad pollution days. It helps protect you from picking up more germs and helps your already compromised immune system. My lungs tend to itch at night and can go on for days without sleeping properly. Absolutely awful and especially when you are trying to enjoy your holiday. Preventative measures is key to surviving this issue. Choose a mask with KF94 for maximum protection against the yellow dust.

Maks everywhere.
