Have many native Korean friends.
Pick their brains not only for their unique language/culture but also for advice where to find the best foods, clothes and how to survive winter.
Spaced repetition learning.
Learn your material at regular intervals rather than at one shot
Speak and write the language whenever you can.
Don’t feel shy. There is only one way to master any language and that is through practise, practise and more practise!!!
Read the kiddy books.
I visit the kiddy section of book shops. I pretend to be a kid for a bit.
Media and movies
Watch the Korean media and movies and see how much you are able to pick up.
Get involved in the local culture.
Keep your eyes peeled for interesting events and if there are any cultural classes…go!
Make use of free foreign language podcasts and apps.
Get your hands on any material that gives you access to the language
Meetup groups.
Don’t practice all alone. Find native speakers to give you supportive feedback. Cost is typically 10000 won and there are other people there in need of your native tongue advice. So far my biggest challenge is getting my pronunciation right. Global Seoul Mates or search for language exchange groups on MeetUp in your area.
